The All-American Flag Act was introduced in 2011 and stalled in 2012, but U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) hopes to get it moving again.

"Our bill simply says: if the government is spending tax payer dollars on American flags, they ought to be made in America," said Senator Brown.

He says the current requirement is that the materials be at least 51% American-made.

The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs passed the act last Wednesday.
