(AP)  Authorities say five people were killed in two separate head-on crashes in central Ohio.

Three were killed Sunday night when an SUV crashed head-on into another vehicle carrying a family of four on a dark road in southern Union County, northwest of Columbus. Deputies were still investigating the crash, and no names have been released.

The accident came hours after two people were killed and another was critically injured in a head-on crash in Fairfield County, at the crossroads of U.S. Route 22 and State Route 159. The patrol said two women in a Honda Accord were killed.
