Indians Edge Blue Lions in Boys FAC Hoops Tilt

There were several positives for the Hillsboro Indians in their 53-42 road win over the Washington Blue Lions Tuesday night.

.

HHS stepped in the victory column for the first time this season. It was also the first career win for their new head coach Miles Burton. And, not to be understated, it was the first appearance for Ryan Scott. Scott, a polished guard at both ends of the floor, had missed the first two games because of a foot injury.

.

The win, although pleasing, did not come without hardship. For example, the Indians trailed most of the game --- including the conclusion of the third quarter, 31-30.

.

However, led by Jakwon Clark, Brad Miller, and Caleb Crawford in the telling fourth period, the Indians outscored the hometown Lions 23-11 to win by double digits.

.

HHS made things a bit easier for themselves by hitting 14 of 20 free throws (70 %) --- including several down the stretch to put the game away. Clark, who led all scorers with 15 points, was named the player of the game.

.

Hillsboro now stands at (1-1) in the FAC and (1-2) overall. The Indians will return to action on Friday night with a home encounter with the Jackson Ironmen.
