Miami Trace Outlasts Hillsboro in FAC Boys Hoops Action

In the first meeting between the Hillsboro Indians and the Miami Trace Panthers back in December it was the second quarter that propelled the Panthers to a solid road victory. However, in the second game (nearly seven weeks later), it was the third period that doomed the Indians in a 52-46 loss.

.

Hillsboro, after trailing by two at the half (21-19), was held scoreless for 3:12 of the third stanza --- enabling Trace to outscore HHS 15-10 and take a lead they would never give up. To be honest, the Indians made a late push in the fourth quarter that put a scare in Trace.

.

Lawton Parry's 3 point goal got Hillsboro within 3 (at 44-41). It was then that the Panthers had a mini-run of 6-2 that put the game out of reach.

.

The Indians, undermanned because of illness, put forth a credible effort (especially defensively) for the entire game. They were lead in scoring by Quintin Captain with 20 points. Miami Trace was led by Logan Rodgers' 23 point performance HHS will be in action Saturday when 10-6.

.

Western Brown comes to town for a late afternoon showdown.
