Drunk Driving Crashes Reported in Hillsboro

Two drunk driving crashes were reported in Hillsboro over the weekend.

At 12:10am Sunday, the Hillsboro Police Department responded to the area of East Main Street and Barry Street in reference to a 1-car crash. Upon arrival, Jaqueline Deardoff, 25 years old of Hillsboro was traveling eastbound on East Main Street passing Barry Street and crossed the westbound lane of traffic and off the roadway. Due to markings on the roadway it is estimated that the vehicle continued to travel westbound through the grass and struck an underground culvert. No injuries reported on scene, Deardoff was charged with OVI and failure to maintain control and was transported to the Highland County Justice Center.

Then at 3:18am Sunday, officers with the Hillsboro Police Department responded to a business in the 1200 block of N. High Street to investigate a suspicious person complaint. Shortly into the investigation a male, later identified as Keith Ritchie III, 18 years old of Lynchburg, fled the scene in a motor vehicle leading officers on a short pursuit resulting in the male crashing his vehicle. No injuries were reported on scene. Ritchie was charged with failure to comply with order or signal of a police officer, driving under suspension, OVI, reckless operation and failure to maintain control and was transported to the Highland County Justice Center.
