Speaker of the Ohio House at Ross Lincoln Day Dinner

The leader of the Ohio House of Representatives spoke at the Ross County Republican Party's annual "Lincoln Day Dinner" Thursday evening.

Clinton County native Cliff Rosenberger represents Clinton, Highland, and Pike counties, and parts of Ross County. He's serving his second term as Speaker of the Ohio House.

He speculated that right now, Ross County and its region hasn't had more power in the state since when it was the state capital.  Aside from himself as a resident, he listed Bob Peterson as speaker pro term of the State Senate, as well as Gary Shearer.

He described how he had the sad duty to show support for the two slain Central Ohio police offers, including Eric Joering, who left his canine partner and three daughters.

But Rosenberger said he was not the only supporter from southern Ohio there - Petland brought some puppies to lighten hearts, and donated supplies for Joering's police dog Sam who has been retired to his family.

Rosenberger is term-limited-out now, so he says he will retire to his home in the village of Clarksville.

The GOP gathering also hosted recently appointed Ohio supreme court justice Mary DeGenaro, and party chair Jane Timken.
