Grants Helping Harrison Township Fire & EMS and Others

Forty-three Ohio employers will share $1.2 million in grants from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) to purchase equipment designed to reduce workplace injuries and illnesses.

Locally, Harrison Township in Ross County will receive more than $37,000 to buy a powered cot, power load, and a rescue chair to assist with Fire & EMS patient transport.

The Safety Intervention Grant program matches an employer’s investment 3-to-1 up to a maximum of $40,000.

“Minimizing dangers to employees and weaving safety into the culture of the company are among the wisest decisions an employer can make,” said Dr. Abe Al-Tarawneh, superintendent of BWC’s division of safety and hygiene. “Fewer accidents and injuries mean safe, healthy, skilled and productive employees.”
