State Gives $100,000 to Pike County to Start Helping with Rhoden Cases

The Pike County Prosecutor was presented with a $100,000 dollar check by Ohio's Attorney General today - money approved by the state legislature to help with the cost of the four Rhoden murder trials to come.

In 2016 eight people were murdered and the four people charged could all get the death penalty if convicted.

The four separate trials are expected to take years and cost millions. County Prosecutor Rob Junk says they are a small county and the payment will help.

The 100-thousand dollars is considered a down payment as lawmakers work on providing additional help. Attorney General Yost says it is not out of line for Ohio taxpayers to help with such trials.
