Three People Including a State Patrol Trooper Injured in Ross County Crash

Two Chillicothe residents and a State Highway Patrol Trooper are on the mend following a two vehicle collision in Ross County.

According to the Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Trooper William Holmes of the Chillicothe Post, was inside of his stationary patrol cruiser along U.S. 23 early Wednesday morning after investigating a crash, when his cruiser was struck by a northbound 2006 Ford Fusion operated by 20-year-old Samantha Gearhart, of Chillicothe.

Trooper Holmes, Ms. Gearhart, and a passenger in Gearhart’s vehicle, 53-year-old Richard Gearhart, of Chillicothe, were taken to Adena Regional Medical Center for treatment. The Patrol Post says Trooper Holmes was treated for minor injuries and released. No word on the conditions of either Mr. or Ms. Gearheart.

The crash took place just before 5:00 a.m. Wednesday near mile post 15 in the area of Marietta Road.
