An Ohio inmate has been recaptured following an escape from the Gallia County Jail.

Richard Clements Jr., of Circleville, was taken back into custody on Monday, August 12th after a brief stand off with authorities.

-

Clements and two other inmates forced their way out of the Gallia County jail on Sunday. Two of the inmates were quickly recaptured but Clements was able to elude police for a little while longer.

-

In a release from Circleville Police on Monday, the department said their services, along with those of the Circleville Municipal Court Probation Department, were requested by the United State’s Marshal Service after it was discovered that Clements had family in the Circleville area and that he may have been located within the city.

Authorities received information early Monday that Clements was staying with a family member at an address located at 140 York Street. The Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) responded to the address and after a short standoff, Clements was taken into custody and transported to the Pickaway County Jail without incident.
