Jackson Wins FAC Gold Football With 49-2 Whipping of Cavaliers

.

The Chillicothe Cavaliers took a three game winning streak to Jackson but knew they would need a near perfect performance to stay with the undefeated Ironmen.

.

That much needed performance went away early for the Cavs. Jackson picked off a Kam Smith pass on the third play of the game and returned it 20 yards for a score and a quick 6-0 lead.

.

The Ironmen dominated early and began their offensive drives at the Chillicothe 20, 40, 16, and 43 to complete 4 first half touchdown drives. The Cavalier offense only picked up a couple of first downs and Jackson went into halftime up 42-0.

.

The second half featured a running clock and a little Cavalier inspiration when Jackson ran a fake for a two point conversion and a flea flicker when they were up 42-0.

.

The Ironmen did share the offense with six different ball carriers and was led by senior tailback Jayden Spires who scored four touchdowns and ran for 110 yards in under three quarters of play.

.

Chillicothe was led by sophomore Hunter Thomas with 59 yards rushing and QB Kam Smith who passed 7-16 for 64 yards with three interceptions.

.

The Cavaliers only score came when Jackson hiked the ball over their punter’s head and through the end zone with just 29 seconds left in the game.

.

Jackson completes a perfect (10-0) season and will host a first round playoff game next week in Division 3.

.

Chillicothe finishes (4-6) in a season that saw them start 4 different quarterbacks and win 3 of their last four games.

.

Coach Doug Pryor talked about the Cavs’ young team that gained great experience this season. He also spoke of the need for more discipline and control on a night where the Cavaliers had two players ejected from the game.

.

If that big number of underclassmen continue to grow and the discipline improves like Coach Pryor wants, 2020 could be a big year for Cavalier football.
