Luke Bryan Surprises Nurse Working On Frontlines Of Coronavirus Pandemic

Country music star, Luke Bryan, recently took some time to surprise a nurse who is working on the frontlines during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Cassidy Gubin, who has spent the last few months working 12-hour shifts in the ICU at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, joined Good Morning America in between shifts to talk about her efforts caring for COVID-19 patients. Although her work can be scary and exhausting, there's nothing else she'd rather be doing.

"I work in an intensive care unit and you see things that you would think you would only hear on TV or see and you couldn't really imagine," she shared.

Over the video call, GMA's T.J. Holmes asked Gubin what she does as "an escape" for herself when she feels overwhelmed. "I love to go on long walks, it just relaxes me and I love listening to music when I do that," she said before revealing her favorite singer is Luke Bryan. "His songs always just make me smile," she said, adding that her favorite is "Rain Is A Good Thing."

That's when the country music star himself entered the video call to surprise Gubin. "Oh my gosh!" she exclaimed. "Is this for real?"

"Thank you for everything you are doing on the frontline, you’re inspiring people like us," Bryan told her. "We’re told to sit home and you’re told to go straight into the hospital where actively sick patients are so you are certainly a hero to me."

She responded, "You have no idea how much that means to me, and thank you so much for your music because it’s all I listen to, it always makes me smile." After the "One Margarita" singer left the call Gubin said, "Oh my gosh, that was the coolest thing I've ever done!"
