One Dead, Another Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash in Fayette County

One person was killed in a one-car crash in Fayette County, Thursday, while a second was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash that took place shortly before 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 1st along U.S. 35 near mile post 91 in Fayette County's Wayne Township.

Troopers say a 2000 Lincoln Town Car was eastbound on Route 35 when it veered off the left side of the roadway and into the median where it collided with a culvert. The vehicle then continued through the median and traveled across the westbound lanes before it traveled off the side of the road and overturned.

There were two unidentified occupants in the Town Car at the time of the crash, one was transported by ground squad to Adena Fayette Medical Center in Washington CH where they succumbed to their injuries.

The other occupant sustained serious injuries and was flown to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

The Patrol says neither occupant was wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred.
