Nate Smith apologized to fans in Oklahoma when he announced that he would cancel an upcoming performance in an effort to take care of his health. The “World On Fire” star said it “breaks my heart” to drop out of the show, but he’d been “struggling with back pain” and started a new treatment plan after a recent MRI.
Smith shared a statement on Instagram on Monday night (October 2), explaining why he would no longer be able to make it to his Tuesday night performance (October 3) the Tulsa State Fair in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The announcement comes at the heels of Thomas Rhett’s recently-wrapped headlining tour, which included Smith and Cole Swindell as special guests. The final show took place on Saturday (September 30) in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee.
“Hey Oklahoma, I just wanted to let you know that unfortunately, I won’t be able to perform for you tomorrow night at the fair,” Smith said in his statement. “It absolutely breaks my heart. I’ve struggled with back pain for years and this last month and a half has been pretty rough. I’ve been pushing through and smiling like I always do, but the pain has been there. Today I got an MRI, and have started a treatment plan to overcome this. I’m in a great deal of pain, and I hope you can understand. I promise to make it up to you… I am so sorry. Love, Nate.”
