Four Area Events Qualify for D-3 State Track Meet


Four area schools advance athletes to the Division 3 State Track & Field Championships next week, with Day 1 qualifications at the Regional Meet at Fairfield Union High School, Wednesday. The top four finishers in each event advance to the State Meet in Columbus, next week.


Paint Valley's Travis Burton had the best first day finish, winning a regional championship in the Boys Discus with a toss of 166-10. Adena's Eric Hurtt also qualified for Columbus with a 4th place finish at 139-8.


Southeastern's Lane Ruby is regional runner-up in the Boys Long Jump at 21-10 3/4.


Leesburg Fairfield has two events from Day 1 to qualify for State as Blake Adams was third in the Girls Shot Put at 37-6 3/4.

They also were fourth in the Boys 3200 Relay, with Matthew Mangus, Bennett Hodson, Andrew Davis and Brandtson Duffie. Their qualifying time was 8:20.


The remaining regional event finals will be held Friday.
