Region 5 American Legion Baseball Tournament Opens July 17th

American Legion Baseball Teams from Region 5 will be vying for a state tournament berth, as they battle the Week of July 16th at V.A. Memorial Stadium in a double elimination tournament.


The SCOL regular season championship was shared by Waverly Post 142 Shockers and Chillicothe Post 757 Colts, but due to a tiebreaker, Waverly is the top seed in the tournament with Post 757 as second seed.


Two-time defending champ Circleville Post 134 Panthers is the third seed, followed by Chillicothe Post 62 Riverbats, then Hillsboro Post 129 and Portsmouth Post 23.


Tournament play opens with four games on Tuesday, July 17th. At 9am, Circleville plays Portsmouth, with the winner playing Chillicothe Post 757 at 11:45am. Chillicothe Post 62 faces Hillsboro at 2:30pm with that game winner playing Waverly at 5:15pm.


Day 2 action on July 18th starts at 9am with G3 Loser v G2 Loser followed by 11:45am G4 Loser v G1 Loser. At 2:30pm- G5 Winner v G6 Winner, then at 5:15pm with G2 Winner v G4 Winner.


Two games will be played on July 19th at 4pm & 7pm as it will be G7 Winner v G8 Loser, then G8 Winner v G9 Winner.


If needed, an 11am game would be played at 11am on Friday, July 20th.


The champion from Region 5 advances to the State Legion Tournament in Lancaster, next week.
