Blue Lions Win Big Over Indians in Friday Grid Action

Week 4 of the 2020 season presented the opportunity for a pair of FAC teams to break into the win column. Hillsboro and Washington C H were both (0-3) heading into Friday night's clash at Gardner Park in Fayette County.

The Blue Lions, coming off a loss to league-leading Jackson, took charge from the opening kick to secure a 47-14 victory over the Indians.

HHS fumbled the ball over to the Blue Lions on the first play of the game. It took the host team only 44 seconds to get on the board via a run by Trevin Downing. After a defensive stand by WCH, Downing scored again on a short run to increase the lead to 13-0. To conclude the scoring in the first stanza, Ethan Rogers-Wright, threw a touchdown pass to Isaiah Haithcock to make it 19-0.

The second quarter also went the way of the Blue Lions with a pick-six by Mason Coffman, followed by two more touchdown passes by Rogers-Wright covering 58 and 24 yards respectively. Washington led at the half by the score of 39-0.

The second half saw the Hillsboro Indians outscore WSHS with Chris Stout hitting Canaan Griffith on a 69 scoring strike in the third quarter.

Finally, Stout finished the scoring on a 3 yard run and then hit Ethan Neal with a 2 point conversion pass in the 4th quarter.

The aforementioned Rogers-Wright, the WSRW "Player of the Game," accounted for Washington's only points in the second half with a 3 yard run.

The schedule does not get any easier for the Indians in week 5. Once again, HHS will take to the road to face the undefeated Jackson Ironmen next Friday.
