Sometime when there is a dry spell in great ideas for film, they either do remakes or take
some of the best video games and turn them into scripts and franchises.
Atari has teamed up with Universal Pictures and Entertainment 360 on a deal to develop ten
classic Atari games into feature films, with Universal already acquiring the first project. The
movies will draw from iconic titles including “Asteroids,” “Pong,” “Centipede,” “Missile
Command,” and “Adventure,” with the goal of creating large-scale action-adventure stories.
Atari CEO Wade Rosen shares in a statement that the company is excited to bring the spirit of
Atari's iconic brand and games to a new medium. The ten movies included in the deal:
“Asteroids”
“Adventure”
“Berzerk”
“Breakout”
“Centipede”
“Crystal Castles”
“Millipede”
“Missile Command
“Pong” (this should be interesting because it's the first video game)
“Yars’ Revenge”
