Forever 21 in Jeffersonville among stores to be closed

Forever 21 has released a list of 178 stores across the United States that it is planning to close. The Jeffersonville location at Tanger Oulets is among the stores to be closed, officials said. The fashion retailer is still trying to keep some of the stores open and explained in court documents that it is trying to renegotiate its leases and rents with its landlords. The company said the stores on the list are some of the least profitable and warned that if it cannot reach new deals, the stores will be shuttered.

“The decisions as to which domestic stores will be closing are ongoing, pending the outcome of continued conversations with landlords,” Forever 21 said. “We do, however, expect a significant number of these stores will remain open and operate as usual, and we do not expect to exit any major markets in the U.S.”

The company is planning liquidation sales across the country in an effort to unload nearly $80 million in unsold merchandise, company officials said.
