Teens Accused in the Death of Victoria Schafer to be Tried as Adults

The two teenagers charged in the death of a professional photographer from Chillicothe will be tried as adults.

Hocking County Juvenile Court Judge Jonah Saving on Tuesday, November 5th ruled that Jaden Churchhues and Jordan Buckley, both 16, will be tried as adults on charges of murder, involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault.

The two teens are accused of pushing a log from the top of a ridge at Old Man’s Cave on September 2nd, which then landed on Victoria Schafer, 44, causing her death. Mrs. Schafer had been at the park that day taking senior photos with a group of high school students.

The case against the 16-year-old defendants will now be moved to the Hocking County Court of Common Pleas. Both boys have denied the charges.
