Hillsboro Police Department Adopting New State Standards

The Hillsboro Police Department looks to strengthen its community and police relations over the next year. The department has adopted and implemented state standards established by the Ohio Collaborative Community-Police Advisory Board to help it accomplish this goal.

The standards, including advisement on the use-of-force and deadly force, as well as agency recruitment and hiring practices, are the first of their kind in Ohio and were developed as part of the state’s efforts bolster community and police relations.

The Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association and the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police will help certify the state’s law enforcement agencies to ensure they are in compliance with Ohio’s new standards.
