An elderly man died after being struck by a car as he was crossing a Chillicothe street, Saturday evening.

Chillicothe Police Captain Ron Meyers reports that at approximately 6:22pm Saturday, Chillicothe Police and Chillicothe Fire Department were dispatched to the area of Paint and 8th Streets in regards a traffic crash involving a pedestrian.

A male in his 80’s was crossing eastbound on Paint Street when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling northbound on Paint. The pedestrian was transported to Adena Regional Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The name is being held until family members have an opportunity to notify other family members.

The crash is still under investigation by CPD crash re-constructionists.
