Fairfield Rallies for Win at Hillsboro

.

The Fairfield Lions brought a (9-6) overall record into Hillsboro for a Tuesday non-conference encounter with the Indians. And, despite trailing after three quarters, the visitors mounted a solid comeback in the fourth stanza to claim a 58-55 victory over their longtime rival.

.

HHS, coming off a Saturday win over Paint Valley, took a 31-26 lead at halftime-- even though they got off to a sluggish start. In fact, the Indians didn't take their first lead until the 6:05 mark of the second quarter.

.

Ryan Scott was key in getting that lead by scoring 12 first half points. However, the Lions' Wyatt Willey led a charge in the third quarter that turned the game around. Willey, who led FHS with 16 points, basically took the game over and got the Lions to within one point at the third quarter break.

.

Then, in the final period, two free throws by Bryson Simmons gave Fairfield a three point advantage and the Indians could not convert on late opportunities.

.

For Willey's second half play, he was named the WSRW "player of the game." Ryan Scott, one week removed from scoring a career high of 31 points at Goshen. garnered 27 against FHS.

.

Hillsboro stands at (7-9) for the season and will next travel to Miami Trace on Friday (as they return to FAC play).
