Hillsboro Mauls McClain in Cross County Shootout

.

The second version of the Highland County rivalry between Greenfield McClain and Hillsboro matched the first one with regard to intensity. However, the outcome was completely different. The hometown Indians wanted to "even the score" with the Tigers- and did exactly that with a decisive and dominant 71-38 win over the visitors.

.

HHS head Coach Miles Burton made post-game mention of the fact that, in his opinion, it was clearly a "team win" (with regard to both offense and defense clicking together). Offensively, the Indians scored in double digits in all four quarters (including 20 in both the third and 4th periods).

.

Defensively, Hillsboro held McClain's high-scoring sophomore Bryson Badgley scoreless for the entire game. Jakwon Clark, the "WSRW "player of the game," led all scorers with 18 points (also grabbing 8 boards).

.

Other double figure scorers for the Indians were Ryan Scott (13 points) and Quinton Captain (12 points). Clark, playing perhaps his best overall game as an Indian, had a streak in the 3rd stanza where he scored 9 consecutive points --- including a thunderous dunk that delighted the Hillsboro fans.

.

HHS, in the final week of regular season play, will play at East Clinton on Tuesday and host Blanchester the following night.
