The Hillsboro Police Department responded to the 200 block of East Lilly Street in reference to a suspicious male subject possibly passed out in front of a residence.
Upon officers checking the male, and obtaining his information, the man fled on foot. The male showed an active warrant for his arrest and was apprehended. It was determined the information he provided was that of a relative who had a warrant.
The male was later identified to be 43-year-old James Travis Newland of Hillsboro, who had a felony indictment warrant for his arrest.
In addition, Newland is being charged with obstructing official business and possessing drug abuse instruments.
