Hillsboro Beats Clinton Massie By Double Digits

Going into Tuesday night's clash with Clinton-Massie, the Hillsboro Indians had indeed been road warriors- their first four games of the 2020 season had been away from home. In fact, their home opener had been delayed for a month. So, playing on their home court must have been a source of inspiration because the Indians played some of their best basketball in defeating the visiting Falcons by the final score of 68-54.

HHS may have had their top offensive quarter of the season right from the opening tap ---- scoring 23 points in the first stanza. They were led by Lawton Parry's two 3 balls that enabled them to grab an 8 point lead (23-16).

In the second period the visitors came back to cut the margin to one point before Hillsboro closed on a mini run to take a 36-30 lead into the halftime break.

With both teams playing stout defense in the third quarter, the Falcons outscored HHS by a count of 14-12 to set the stage for the telltale finish. And that is exactly what the Indians did!

It was the duo of Hunter Price and Quintin Captain spearheading a twenty point outburst (while C - M managed only 10) that finished the game with a flourish to secure the fourth win of the year for the Indians (against only one loss).

Price was the game's top scorer with 18 points while the aforementioned Parry contributed 15 (all on 3 point buckets). Captain also reached double figures by contributing 13 points. For their efforts, Price and Parry were named WSRW's "co-players of the game."

Coach Miles Burton, after the game, stated how pleased he was for the manner in which his squad distanced themselves from the Falcons in the pivotal fourth quarter. He cited how the team has matured from last year when, at times, fourth quarters were problematic.

Hillsboro's next assignment is a difficult one as they will be on the road again this Saturday to face undefeated Eastern Brown.
