Stark County Woman Killed, Three Others Injured in Friday Head-On Crash

A young Stark County woman was killed late last week in a two-vehicle crash in Clinton County.

According to the Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Kara Metz, 22; Metz’s infant daughter; and Metz's passenger, Heidi Wright, 20, all of Stark County, were northbound along U.S. 68 in a 2014 Toyota Scion TC when Metz attempted to pass multiple vehicles at once and collided head-on with an oncoming southbound Ford Focus shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19th in Clinton County’s Washington Township.

Metz and her infant daughter, both of East Sparta, sustained serious injuries in the crash and were flown to Miami Valley Hospital. Metz’s passenger, Heidi Wright, of Beach City, sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Ford Focus, Thomas Cogan, 82, of Beavercreek, was initially transported by ground squad to Clinton Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. He was later transferred to Miami Valley Hospital as well.
